Its interesting how AI slop music can be both very good at emulating common types of sounds/vocals, but still be incredibly obvious that it’s AI slop about every time. I mean within 2-3 bars i can tell in most cases.

Maybe I just haven’t heard a “good” AI generated track but honestly to me they all sound like a lower quality MP3 playing over the radio, it sounds like a good imitation of what music is, but its for lack of a better term “soulless”

Yet again people will learn nothing and see this as a bold move by Bluesky as standing up against government overreach…until Texas, and Kentucky, and a few other red states pass similar laws and then it just becomes accepted that if you want to post online you have to submit your ID rather than actually putting up any resistance.

I’m the kind of #sysadmin who after doing a mostly complete backup decides to just live rebalance / from RAID1 to Single instead of swapping in a new larger ssd.

It does seem to be working fine, heck i didn’t even get a warning when i tried to do the data portion, only when i also wanted to switch the metadata from raid1 to single did it tell me i’d have to “force” something.

Worst case I’ll have roughly the same amount of downtime that i would if I went with a new drive/install, but so far its looking like I wont even need to reboot.

Ugh I need to upgrade the servers SSD and I’ve been putting it off for months. its like under 100gb free on the root storage, not that it really needs too much but its small enough where I’ve accidentally filled it up a few times.

This is why i do my part to abuse AI. I can see the counter point to this being the environmental impact of such usage, but I still think long term its better to abuse these systems now because the sooner they all collapse the sooner we can get the useful bits of what they actually can do working on consumer level hardware.

There isn’t anything inherently wrong with the concept of spicy autocomplete, its just not going to ever reach the level of humans can just trust the output without verifying it. It will save time in the same way that auto-prediction and swipe typing, or dictation speech to text already do, but the amount of VC money flowing into these projects at the moment is based on the complete fantasies of a handful of billionairs who have absolutely zero idea how any of the underlying tech actually works.

Yeah i just deleted the old config files and changed my VPN server. I’ve got a dozen google accounts that i use pretty much just to abuse AI and get around any limits they try to put on free accounts.

Sergey Ivancheglo is making a whole heck of a lot of enemies in certain cartels right now, not really sure what their end game is with this stuff but its mostly being seen as an annoyance in the places where Monero is important.

The reason I am not a good business executive is the same reason I’ve never been wealthy despite being rather clever and possessing the capacity for extremely hard work: I just don’t care about money, capital or profit. I only care about doing interesting and useful things - the interesting part is for me, the useful part is for everybody else. I refuse to do boring, useless things even if it’s the only way to earn a decent living. Consequently, I often don’t earn a decent living. But at least my life and work are never boring.

Something I really like about #Fediverse is that because of the lack of a corporate “algorithm” to sort and hide things, my feed just sort of naturally transitions into various languages as the night goes on. Its one of the little things I really enjoy.

Almost like the opposite of an ad these posts in languages I do not understand are basically all just saying to me “no corporations are benefiting from what you are doing right now”.
