this feels very computer illiterate of me, but what's up w meshtastic??
it looks interesting and I'm v intrigued by the idea of a decentralized network, and the versatility of it, but I'm not totally convinced. with the amt of posts and videos ive seen abt it here and elsewhere, and by the very nature of decentralized systems, it requires a lot of users, and so it's hard to feel like this isn't all some marketing tactic for a new and interesting but ultimately niche and unhelpful gadget.
does anyone here have any experience using meshtastic stuff to improve the community around them? I want to believe but I don't want another gadget collecting dust π
404 Media reports that Swiss authorities turned over some identifying info about a user of an account associated with Defend the Forest/Stop Cop City. This video is a brief summary. (Note: there is no defend the forest "group" as this video suggests.)
I accidentally launched Nautilus as a file manager and almost vomited, how tf do people use gnome⦠Gross.
It has a not all too different vibe from the βfisher priceβ style of windows xp, not quite as clownish but still pretty badβ¦ like wtf is this a PC or a phablet?
Iβm sure it works great for some people, Iβm just surprised its still sorta kinda the default, in as much as anything can be a βdefault optionβ on linux.
Maybe it looks less bad when its all together and you know how to use it, iβd imagine my system would probably feel pretty terrible to most anyone but me so to each their own of course.
I decided to record mewβs purring while he was laying on me a couple weeks ago, I didnβt know it at the time but it was the last time Iβd hear him purring so strongly and happily. Iβm glad i decided to record it.
It was hard to lose him so quickly after the diagnosis, but It was also nice to be able to plan for it.
Said goodbye to my orange buddy yesterday. This is the last pic of him and one of the first pics of him.
He had the most wonderful smile.
I just beat the Guinness world record for speed-picking by 4 seconds!
Single-pin-picking, 8 differently-keyed, 4-pin, standardΒΉ padlocks, in 56 seconds.
And I did it while wearing a fluffy bear suit.
ΒΉ the current record holder used laminated Master locks with no security pins, but I didn't want all the comments on my video to be "Master lock sucks" jokes, so I used Brinks instead.
When people come to the aid of weak ass Dems with the defense of βWhat do you expect them to do in the minority?β, reply sharply,
βCall for a general strike.β
The pedophile traitor party is going to call you βradical leftistsβ no matter what you do, so why not earn the title? Just call for a general strike.
Call for a general strike.
Call for a general strike.
Do it.
BlueSky, the fully decentralised (wink wink) social media platform is down worldwide again.
Fixed a few nagging issues with Ngnix Proxy logs today.
Iβve been listening to Dropkick Murphys βThis Machine Still Kills Fascistsβ and remembering that time the copyright holders of βThis landβ tried to sue some online animation creators for putting out a parody of the song and it turned out the corp didnt even own the rights in the first place.
Copyright βenforcementβ is a scam

#OtD 2 Mar 1955 15-year-old Claudette Colvin was arrested for refusing to vacate her bus seat for whites. Her case wasn't taken up by civil rights leaders for legal technical reasons, as well as public opinion worries about her class and dark skin https://stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/9207/claudette-colvin-arrested
3.2TiB and growing. YT-DLP is a fucking champ! I donβt even know how Iβm not getting rate limited more often, it happens once in a while but at least 1/2 of this is from the past week when i added a bunch of new syncs with 1,000s of videos posted

Cthulhu is my Home Server, it hosts most of the media services and a few other things. 64gb RAM with a Ryzen 3600X and a 90TB RAID0
Zion {VPS} #statistics for Feb 2026
This runs the majority of services now. Its 3 cores of a Ryzen 3950 with 12GB of ram and a shared 10gb connection.
The only services not hosted on this are ones that require access to the large storage array in my home server (Peertube, Jellyfin, navidrome, Romm)
{my home router}βs #Statistics for Feb 2026
Its so cool having a router that can run docker containers.
So its seems that although peertube itself properly backdates synced videos, they still get posted to the fedi-feed as new posts.
Not ideal, but I dont think thereβs much i can do about it.
GravityWellβs Peertube now up to over 2TB of media.
