Setting up a personal matrix server today, don’t have the resources to make a public one at the moment but we’ll get there.

Setup a more basic style, I’ve added different color scheme options. Added some new frontends for jellyfin. Funkwhale is now 2.0-alpha and mstream and NaviDrome are also available with the same library. GravityWell.xyz

It only just recently occurred to me that i can get certificates for both gravitywell.xyz and ugh.im in one go and have the domains resolve to the same services. So I’ll probably start giving everything both a “short” ugh.im and a long “gravitywell.xyz” subdomain for services that it might be useful on.

Modern CPUs are just amazing… or maybe i don’t have very high standards, but I was playing Doom The Dark Ages and wondering why i suddenly was getting only 30-45FPS instead of the usaul 60, turns out I forget to turn off video transcoding from tdarr, my system was encoding AV1 video (with the CPU) while also encoding H264 (with the GPU) to my peertube stream. I was playing for about 30 mins before i even noticed.

I hope no one infers the wrong thing from the added Luigi in the corner… I wouldnt want to violate any “community guidelines”… Oh wait its MY FUCKING WEBSITE.

Seems the issue causing everything to hang was NFS, which sadly means i have to fall back to using Samba for now. On the positive side, the wireguard mesh network seems to be working as expected.

Of course right after we get a huge influx of new users the server starts acting up again… so far as i can tell unrelated to the amount of new users. Seems like it might have been either slskd or nfs that had a memory leak . I turned both of as the most likely culprits for now.

I tried to update funkwhale to 2.0 alpha, it was a glorious failure and there’s no reverting back because i realized too late that the files that where supposed to be backed up, where in fact not backed up at all.

You know that quote “fortune favors the bold”… The guy who its quoting, he died being bold, its not really the inspirational quote most people take it for, its more about just trying even when you know you’re likely to fail, at least that’s my take.

My point is, I’m a very bold sysadmin, and this will probably not be the last time something breaks, everything is a learning experience.
