I think even if no one agrees with my perspective, I’m just going to try and find ways to fuck with #meta from my own instance, until THEY defederate from ME

They probably won’t even notice, but I’d like to see what kind of things i can get away with doing to antagonize @zuck@threads.net who is federated currently.

I honestly did not really give #fedipact much thought until people started trying to claim im supporting meta by pointing out the flaws in it. Like how incredibly bad faith do you have to be to make a strawman like that for your argument to work.

I think overall i support the sentiment of it, i just think the implementation and stated reasons are very gate keepy and doesn’t really help the people they supposedly care about who they claim get treated so poorly on other platforms. It seems like victim blaming to hold it against people for not being able to leave #meta.

FUCK META, I want them to die a horrible death that results in mark zuckerberg killing himself after losing his entire fortune and his children die in destitution. Speaking of difficulty moderating, I think it’d be pretty hilarious if I Tagged @zuck@threads.net And he ended up seeing it but can’t take down my post or ban me because I run my own instance.

Huge shoutout to people like @georgetakei @georgetakei@threads.com

For being accessible on both and helping to bring more awareness to Mastodon… thats how you get people off #meta, by meeting them where they are and leading by example.

How many of you guys support blocking George Takei for being on threads I wonder…

  • THEIR LONG TRACK RECORD OF PURE EVIL

No one would argue meta isn’t pure evil, but that’s where people are. unfortunately not everyone is able to figure out how to join the fediverse, and many people are only on meta’s platforms because thats where the people they communicate with are.

It’s wrong to hold the negative actions of a company that is essentially holding everyone’s friends hostage (ie: they won’t have a way of contacting them outside of meta platfoms) against the people being kept hostage.

I’m just thinking, what can we do to make #meta #threads regret even trying to federate? How can we take advantage of this situation from a hacker/activist perspective, but with the ruthlessness of a capitalist. Embrace the federation, extend it by introducing something cool that threads cant do (like ad free content, a better UI, less censorship, etc), and then by the time they realize OH SHIT we better stop federating, enough of their users might be willing to jump ship the next time they get some 30 second unskippable add thrown in their meta feed thats already full of mostly AI slop posting.

Seem like a better strategy then just ignoring them. 🀷

The main flaw i see with #fedipact logic is: if meta was really more of a threat to Fedi then Fedi is to #Meta, why wouldnt β€œProject92” or whatever just start a covert instance runnin mastodon on a random domain name unaffiliated with meta (at least on the surface level) and just harvest all the data they want that way?

I just don’t see that much of a harmful impact in harvesting data that is already public, i get sending a message that we dont want corpos on #fediverse, but maybe we should start considering the harm Fedi can do to meta by using the ole β€œembrace, extend, extinguish” route as a sort of uno reverse card and out extend the corporations for once.

Just doing this for testing purposes but It seems like #federation isn’t really a thing on #threads. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong but I see no way of viewing, following, or interacting with non-threads users from the threads website. I can technically follow threads users from mastodon, but they can’t follow back or even know that im following them.

I guess i really don’t know why i expected it to be more than a performative PR stunt, but it sure seems like even #meta doesnt want people interacting because, if they did then they’d know they could leave.

Kinda makes me rethink the whole #fedipact thing… like if the fedi hadn’t completely walled off from them and instead embraced the idea, we might have ended up actually costing meta users instead of just allowing them to stay a walled garden.

Tempest Rising implements the RTS mechanics of Command and Conquer beautifully. If you are looking for a new C&C game this is most definitely it!

Who pays for these ridiculous services? I bet companies like this pretty much depend on people who forget they had auto-renew on.

Tried and failed to run Doom Dark Ages on Debian, i guess drivers are too old in stable backports and the ones in testing just crashed the game.

Gave Pop!OS a try mainly because it had nvidia support out of the box, might keep it IDK.

β€œNo I don’t work in cyber security, I’m the reason other people work in cyber security.”

Had an fun conversation on my ride home today with someone who was studying to get into cybersec, made me realize need to get over avoiding telling people i’m a hacker.

Its like, IFKYK, and if you don’t then it probably doesnt matter what you think i do anyway.

Recently i noticed a problem with #Vivaldi automatically adjusting the volume of youtube videos. I’m not sure if its related to the media controls tray icon that pops up but if i scroll up or down on that the volume will changes for the media vivaldi is playing, it doesnt seem to save this setting though and re-visits to the same video will result in the volume going to whatever vivaldi originally decided it liked.

This setting will default to sometimes 30%, sometimes 50% and sometimes 80%, i can’t understand where its getting to decide what level it chooses for a given video although it might have to do with the overall loudness of the video (louder videos get set to 30%, quieter β€œtalking” videos might get 80%)

What is this setting called, where do i find it, and how can i turn it off?
