My last AliExpress order made it through customs and arrived today, although half of the order was canceled before it even shipped, but the important stuff made it.

I’m pretty happy with the results here. Registrations are open on everything at the moment if anyone wants to try them, most don’t even require creating an account.

Remember when you used to have all your favorite music stored on one little device that had less memory then your current phone has now, and then you got suckered into paying for the “convenience” of a spotify subcription because hey its all there and one less thing to have to carry around, plus oh boy do you get to discover great new artists on there… of course those artists don’t earn shit from your “discovering” them that way but hey “Give me convenience or Give me Death”, AMIRITE?

Many people aren’t aware that spotify was created on the basis of “easier to ask forgiveness then permission” and because they had the right amount of money and the right old white dudes investing they got a free pass to just steal music using the very methods they’d previously fought so hard to try and stop.

FunkWhale is the spiritual successor to the now long gone and mostly forgotten “GrooveShark” which was Spotify’s biggest competitor NOT backed by the major label investors doing EXACTLY the same thing as them and bringing music to the people, only difference was content on grooveshark was actually uploaded by the users from their own collections, oh and of course grooveshark didnt have the backing of rich venture capitalists.

Spotify does not deserve your money everything on it can be downloaded in better quality on other services anyway so even if you are the sort of lawful good person who pays for things, you’ll get a much better deal from Tidal, Deezer, or even YouTube Music.
