Yeah it wasnt bad marketing so much as lack of marketing because Americans didnt care for jrpgs at the time, i dont think it got hardly any tv ads and not even a lot of promo in mags.

The first big JRPG i remember actually getting a heavy add campaign in america was FF 7 or 8.

I kinda wanna see what they would do if it passes. Not saying i want it to be implemented but i think if it did pass they would quickly realize its unenforceable and wed get some cool tshirts out of it like we did when they classified the stuff as "Munitions" in the 90s (anyone else get suspended from school for implying you had brougbt muntians to school when no one got the joke?).

I say let em learn again, and each time this hapens, as it will happen every decade probably, we make it even more impossible for laws to dictate over software development. Code is speech.

Its good people are taking this as a serious threat, but i am not one of those people, i aim to misbehave.

Did some cleanup on matrix last night, pretty much wiped out ALL uploaded media which is fine because matrix is the one service I don’t have open to anyone else.

#Matrix certainly is not the easiest service to self host, especially how I have it setup with bridges to other things, but I’d argue its worth doing if you’re able. Continuwuity is pretty light on resources and since its my own server I don’t have to worry as much about 3rd parties getting or providing access i don’t want.

I probably wouldn’t use matrix as much if i had to trust other people to do the hosting, but having it all under my control I’m not worried about it

Do "employers" like uber actually withhold taxes? I would think the most tax resistance would come from from gig workers these days. Its probably a big part of why they started forcing companies like cashapp and paypal to be reporting income above $600

Have any of you moved a mastodon instance from one host to another? for obvious reasons, we are looking to move niagara.social to a Canadian hosting provider but, well, the database is 25GB and the media storage is 1.6TB, which is way too big, and also very difficult to move. We are considering just exporting the accounts, starting over, and importing them, but that is far from ideal. Any thoughts would be apreciated !
