Modern CPUs are just amazing… or maybe i don’t have very high standards, but I was playing Doom The Dark Ages and wondering why i suddenly was getting only 30-45FPS instead of the usaul 60, turns out I forget to turn off video transcoding from tdarr, my system was encoding AV1 video (with the CPU) while also encoding H264 (with the GPU) to my peertube stream. I was playing for about 30 mins before i even noticed.

I hope no one infers the wrong thing from the added Luigi in the corner… I wouldnt want to violate any “community guidelines”… Oh wait its MY FUCKING WEBSITE.

Seems the issue causing everything to hang was NFS, which sadly means i have to fall back to using Samba for now. On the positive side, the wireguard mesh network seems to be working as expected.

The funniest thing is that there’s no unpathetic version of what happened to Musk. Either he got his ass beat by a five year old or this limp dick fifth rate Temu version of Toht from Raiders Of The Lost Ark. Any way you spin it it’s bitch thirty for Ketamine Clyde. 😂😂😂

Of course right after we get a huge influx of new users the server starts acting up again… so far as i can tell unrelated to the amount of new users. Seems like it might have been either slskd or nfs that had a memory leak . I turned both of as the most likely culprits for now.

i really hope i dont have to go back to using samba.

I tried to update funkwhale to 2.0 alpha, it was a glorious failure and there’s no reverting back because i realized too late that the files that where supposed to be backed up, where in fact not backed up at all.

You know that quote “fortune favors the bold”… The guy who its quoting, he died being bold, its not really the inspirational quote most people take it for, its more about just trying even when you know you’re likely to fail, at least that’s my take.

My point is, I’m a very bold sysadmin, and this will probably not be the last time something breaks, everything is a learning experience.

@Zergling_man I really would love to run XMPP again but no one i interact with really uses it. I miss when i could run everything through Pidgin or weechat, but these days if you want to bridge across networks matrix is pretty much the only option that works with all of them (ie discord, slack, “messenger”, etc)

The more people who actually engage with me over my dislike of the #fedipact, the more clear it is that very few people actually understand how activitypub and the internet in general actually work.

Honestly thinking of setting up multiple federated mastodon instances just to keep trolling threads and see what i can get away with… wish pleroma had better support for it, I love this interface but i guess they hard coded a block on threads or something because it absolutely refuses to let me directly tag threads users.

If anyone’s blocking or defederating me because I said I want @zuck to kill himself… would “UN_ALIVING” be a better term for you…?

They probably won’t even notice, but I’d like to see what kind of things i can get away with doing to antagonize @zuck@threads.net who is federated currently.

I honestly did not really give #fedipact much thought until people started trying to claim im supporting meta by pointing out the flaws in it. Like how incredibly bad faith do you have to be to make a strawman like that for your argument to work.

I think overall i support the sentiment of it, i just think the implementation and stated reasons are very gate keepy and doesn’t really help the people they supposedly care about who they claim get treated so poorly on other platforms. It seems like victim blaming to hold it against people for not being able to leave #meta.

FUCK META, I want them to die a horrible death that results in mark zuckerberg killing himself after losing his entire fortune and his children die in destitution. Speaking of difficulty moderating, I think it’d be pretty hilarious if I Tagged @zuck@threads.net And he ended up seeing it but can’t take down my post or ban me because I run my own instance.

• PROTECTION OF MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES

What even is this point? Marginalized communities exist on #meta in huge numbers, #Fedipact only futher alienates those people who may otherwise be open to moving platforms if not for large portions of fediverse blocking the one platform where all their currently existing friends and communities already exist.

try being trans and on facebook, having a list of common suicide methods sent to you by a bigot, and reporting it. they’ll do goddamn nothing. a real, personal, and depressingly common example

So the solution is for the majority of trans people on facebook to just not know about fediverse at all? Or do people think the existence of Mastodon and how to use common knowledge to your average non-tech savy (trans)person and they are just choosing to stay on a platform that lets them be harassed?

If #meta threads is such a hostile place for marginalized people, why aren’t we brigadding posts on threads to drown out the bigots and show support for those who need it.
