If I did this as a professional employment type of job it would be a nightmare. I have the most major respect for admins of larger instances and probably also have some kind of a day job in the it profession, IDK how ya’ll find the energy.

This is why I run my own things, I want to be able to break them and learn from the mistakes i make. Sometimes I might just say fuck it and nuke the entire service, but usually even when i end up doing that i still learn something about what not to do next time.

So what this means going forward is essentially less data getting backed up frequently, but living dangerously in terms of potentially losing uploaded content.

Well I think upload directories for lemmy, akkoma, and Prometheus have all been migrated correctly but seeing as all the old stuff except Prometheus broke i must have done something wrong. It might be something i can fix later, but i didn’t take an extra back and i dont feel like reverying to the one that was done 4 days ago.
